Next Steps

Nick DisabatoNick Disabato

In this workshop, we've covered a lot of ground on how to improve your product's user experience. As we wrap up, I want to leave you with three actionable steps you can take to start making a difference right away.

Run a Heuristic Evaluation

One of the most high-leverage things you can do is run a heuristic evaluation for your product. If you haven't gained the critical distance to step back and objectively assess what's working and what's not, this is an essential exercise. A heuristic evaluation helps you identify areas where you may have normalized suboptimal experiences and gives you a roadmap for improvement.

Run & Analyze Heat & Scroll Maps

The next step is to get heat mapping installed and start analyzing user behavior using the process outlined earlier. This will give you insights into how your website or product is actually being used.

All right, three things you can do first. First is run a heuristic evaluation for your product. I think that's one of the most high leverage things that you can do if you haven't gained the critical distance that you have as a team member to really get out of your head and start thinking about what's working and what's not, and how we've normalized the things that are not working and what we can do about it. Super, super valuable. The next is get heat mapping installed and start looking at heat maps using the process that we've delineated in this course.

I think it's incredibly valuable, obviously. I think it's really, really helpful for people. And then the third is, start writing up some things to fix. And those can be one-off fixes, they can be A-B tests, but really you need to start identifying and isolating what you're going to be doing before you go and do it. And it allows you to act with intention, and focus, and clarity.

And it brings clarity to the entire team. You can't put a price tag on that. It's always incredibly valuable. And I think that's it for this workshop. I am profoundly grateful that you've taken the time to go through this and that you've taken a chance on us.

And I hope it's really, really valuable for you. If you have any questions about anything, my email address is nickd, N-I-C-K-D as in dog, at draft.nu. And I would love to hear from you asking any questions that you have. We have a whole community. If you go to draft dot n u slash membership, you can take a closer look at that, where we teach people about this sort of stuff every single week.

And beyond that, thank you again for your time. And I look forward to hearing from you about any wins that you got and would love if you, you know, run a test and it goes really well and it's helping out shift the culture. Like, please tell me. That would be amazing. I collect those so I can feel good at the beginning of the day.

So again, thank you and appreciate it.
